The Broadway USRA Light Mikado has finally arrived. The little brother of BLI’s previous release, the USRA Heavy Mikado, is very similar to its larger sibling. It uses the same chassis and tender, and has the same sounds as the Heavy. It does have some new features, such as:

• Golden yellow LED headlight
• Lit Firebox
• Operational Front Coupler, Kaydee Style

Idler type gear box mounted to geared driver which is more reliable and smoother than direct drive used in some earlier BLI locos.

It also has a higher level of detail than the Heavy, which is to be expected since the Light is part of the Paragon series, and the Heavy is part of the less detailed, less costly Powerhouse Series.

The Light Mike has a split frame loco chassis for pickup on both rails, and alternating pickup for the tender trucks, which provides ample pickup for the loco. It is very well balanced, the balance point is exactly between the 2 center drivers.

This loco is capable of pulling 15 cars with a combined weight of about four pounds up curved 4% grades without a problem, though this is due to the traction tires on the rear set of drivers. The loco comes equipped with an extra set of drivers that have no traction tires if you feel the need to swap them out.
