Broadway ATSF 4-8-4 Arrives

BUY IT HERE

Santa Fe steam fans will be happy with this latest arrival from Broadway. Detail and trim are very good as well as slow speed and up. The loco itself weighs almost 1.5 lbs and has more than ample traction. It pulled about 20 cars up a 4% grade.

The QSI sound is characteristic and the SF whistle distinct. There are trap door accessible, reset and volume switches located on the aft top tender.

Broadway understands the importance of good pick-up and has engineered split frame all driver pick-up on the loco and alternating pick-up on the tender trucks.

As is now the norm, Broadway ships these unlubricated. If you run without lubricating, the loco is noisy. Follow the instructions and lubricate as soon as you are satisfied the loco runs ok.

The 4-8-4 has a few new surprises:

  • A Kadee style coupler is supplied to replace the factory installed dummy front coupler.
  • A spare set of the loco's main drivers are supplied with traction tires. If you're not satisfied with the loco's existing better than average traction, this is another option.
