Decoders for Kato SD40.

Good news for DCC folks getting the new Kato HO SD40s! All decoders that are currently available with the standard NMRA plug will fit into these locos!

Mount decoder on long nose frame section over gear box and "U" joint area. Route wires around rear lite LED and under decoder. While all decoders will work those with the most flexible wires will be easiest.

If you are using a decoder with the nine pin header plug like DH140P, DH121P, DH155P, D104P, LE131, the new Lenz wire harness plug assembly, WHPL, has a low profile molded plug and thin flexible wires, is ideal for this installation and will fit all of the above decoders. The Soundtraxx DSD & DSX sound units will also fit over the long nose.

The rear lite rod will have to be shortened and illuminated near the lens. You will have to modify the cab area to accept speakers, 2 3/4".
