Lenz GmbH just announced the release of the LRC120 - RailCom Local Detector

RailCom: Full NMRA DCC Bi-directional Communication

It took a long time to achieve an easy to use, highly reliable data transmission module, but its finally here. RailCom introduces a whole new generation of capabilities for DCC by providing for the first time the ability of a DCC decoder to communicate performance information back to the command station.

RailCom is built to adhere to the September 2004 NMRA Bi-directional DCC proposals assuring interchange with other NMRA DCC Bi-directional products from other manufacturers.

To gain the features of RailCom you need three components.

1) A power station that conditions the track for communications. Our LZV100 and LV102 units already have this feature which is easily activated by the user.

2) A transmitting decoder. All our Gold Series decoders are RailCom equipped.

3) A detector that can read the data being transmitted. The LRC120 is our first detector to be released.

The LRC120 will quickly identify the address of the first locomotive that enters its track section and display this information on its display.

The LRC120 is also equipped to display the value of any CV for any locomotive in its detection zone. This feature requires that the command station send Ops Mode read commands, a future feature of our command stations.

Lenz GmbH wins the 2005 MOBA (German model railroad federation) Innovation Award for its innovate contributions to model railroad control.

"Digital technology has revolutionized model railroading, like no technology before. This extends both to locomotives operation as well as to controlling of the entire model railroad.

Digital control today makes possible an equally comfortable and realistic form of layout control and in the future further advances will be offered that today are difficult to even conceive.

Lenz is the name, which stands behind a majority of this technology so important for us. Bernd Lenz put forth the foundation-stone for digital technology. Many developments come from its house, or considerably involve the Lenz company."
