The popular Life-Like EMD Switcher now comes with sound!

Life-Like initial release of the EMD SW/ series Switchers back in the 90s proved to be very popular. The locos ran smoothly, had sufficient weight to pull well, crisp detail and easily accommodated DCC. Their decision to release a DCC/DC sound version makes sense. We expected the sound equipped versions to be comparable.

This past Wednesday we received our initial shipment and immediately tested a sample. The newbie ran smoothly, again good detail and the clear QSI sound was realistic.

When we took the unit out of the box it seemed very light. An examination of the under carriage revealed one inboard axle with a traction tire on each wheel. I knew some modelers would not be happy with traction tires.

Overall the new SWs with QSI Sound perform comparably to their predecessors.
