Digitrax Announces New Decoder Formats

Digitrax has announced a new decoder generation that will have a socket for a new sound only decoder called the "Sound Bug".

They have also announced that a special PnP decoder DN123K3 (List $29.99) for the Kato N scale NW2 is coming soon.

The DS54 and the DM-1 are discontinued.

Digitrax is in the process of revising the DH163 series of HO decoders to incorporate a special socket for the "Sound Bug", a new sound only decoder. This new series will be the DH165 series.

It appears that most of the popular offerings in the former DH163 series will be re-released as the DH165 series, see the info below.

Also, all the features of the DH163 series such as speed stabilization will be incorporated in the DH165 series.

The "Sound Bug" that features the same downloadable format as the SFX064 will simply plug into the DH165 series for a sound upgrade. The generic Sound Bug will be designated SFX004 and will have the same 28mm speaker supplied with the other Digitrax sound decoders.

Here is the line-up just announced with some pricing appearing to be lower than the predecessors':

DH165L0
Replaces the DH163LO for LLP2K narrow body diesels.
Still features the board mounted lighting, drop down resistors.
Includes the Sound Bug socket.
Shipping in 1-2 weeks, pre-orders accepted.

DH165A0
Replaces the DH163AO for most Atlas diesels.
Includes the Sound Bug socket.
Shipping in 1-2 weeks, pre-orders accepted.

DH165K0
Replaces the DH163KO for most older Kato/Atlas diesels.
Includes the Sound Bug socket.
Shipping in 1-2 weeks, pre-orders accepted.

DH165K1
For new HO Kato loco release
Not announced yet.
