How To: Slim Fit TDS Speaker Enclosures

Buy TDS Speakers and Enclosures

Our TDS precision machined speaker enclosures are designed to simplify assembly so that the appropriate TDS speaker is an air tight "Snap-Fit" with the enclosure. This makes assembly easy and eliminates the need for bonding adhesives.

The "Snap Fit" enclosure is then a little wider than the speaker and for the most part the additional width is acceptable. However, there are circumstances when it is necessary to have both the speaker and enclosure be the same width or diameter. It occurred to us that by using a smaller than the corresponding size speaker enclosure a "Slim-Fit" might be possible. We did an assembly check and indeed this can work for most of our smaller speakers, see table below.

Since the Slim Fit eliminates the "Snap-Fit" feature, the enclosure that is being slim-fitted must be bonded to the speaker with a high viscosity sealant adhesive material like silicone, epoxy or adhesive putty. Use caution, insure that none of the adhesive bonds to or interferes with the movement of the speaker membrane.
